Cynthia Payne RD, CDE
Cynthia Payne is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator.
Cynthia works full time in the Diabetes Clinic at Northumberland Hills Hospital and works nights and weekends at Pharmacy 101 providing private nutrition counselling.
Cynthia graduated from Ryerson University and did her Dietetic Internship at Ottawa Civic Hospital.
In the past, she has worked as a Dietitian at Ottawa Civic Hospital, Centenary Hospital, Ministry of Community and Social Services, The Fitness Institute Medical Clinic, Ryerson University, and Golden Plough Lodge.
Currently, Cynthia offers nutrition counselling at Alderville First Nations once a month. She also writes a nutrition column for the Cobourg Daily Star and Port Hope Evening Guide.
Recently, Cynthia has agreed to write a book with a local doctor.
Nutrition counselling is offered for healthy eating, weight management, low fat/cholesterol, diseases of the bowels, high blood pressure, hypoglycemia, lactose intolerance, anemia and cancer to mention a few. Counselling for diabetes only will be provided at Northumberland Hills Hospital, covered by OHIP.
There is a fee for service of $80.00 for the initial assessment and $45.00 for follow ups. Doctor’s referrals and self referrals are accepted. Many insurance companies cover counselling by a Registered Dietitian. Nutrition counselling can also be claimed on tax returns under medical.
